Definition of Prepositions for Class 2:-

Prepositions (prepositions) are words used before a pronoun or noun to complete a sentence by building a relationship between words. On, to, in, under, etc., are a few examples of prepositions. Moreover, prepositions help to understand a noun’s direction, place, or time. 

Types of Prepositions for Class 2:-

Time

Prepositions like on, before, after, in, at, and during describing a time frame, period, hour, day, or date. In short, such prepositions help ascertain the time for the action. 

Place

Prepositions like in, on, between, under, behind, up, down, inside, and at is commonly used to describe where the action happened or might happen. In short, they describe the place of occurrence of the action.

Direction

Into, along, toward, to, through, and across are prepositions describing the action’s directions. The directions help in deciphering the movement of a person or a thing.

Time

The school always finishes at 2:00 p.m.

My brother will be back on Tuesday.

He arrived at the station after 9:00 a.m.

Place

The women walk up to the mountain to get food for their families.

The principal’s office is down the hall.

The Qutab Minar is a beautiful monument situated in Delhi.

Direction

They jumped into the swimming pool.

In the movie RRR, the lead actors save a child’s life by moving him across the river.

His head got injured after running into a wall while escaping from thieves.

Highlight the Preposition

A man pushed an elephant inside a refrigerator in three steps. He opened the door, pushed the elephant inside, and then closed the refrigerator door. Now, he wants to put a camel inside it. How can he do it in four steps?

Answer: He opens the refrigerator door, takes out the elephant, pushes the camel inside the refrigerator, and closes the door.

The monkey threw a part for all the animals in the jungle, but the camel couldn’t attend. Why?

Answer: The camel was inside the refrigerator.

A man wanted to cross a river rumored to be filled with alligators and didn’t have a manmade pull to cross over. How did he do it?

Answer: The man crossed the river by swimming as the alligators had gone to the party thrown by the monkey in the jungle.

Three men wanted to climb on the back of a camel, but the first man fell off the camel’s back after shivering. Why did this happen?

Answer: The camel just got out of the refrigerator, so his body was cold.
