Definition of Punctuation for Class 3:-

Punctuations are commonly used by class three students to elaborate the meaning of a sentence, indicate whether it is a statement or an inquiry, or create meaningful passages. The students amplify the usage of punctuation while speaking with their tone. For example, a student can state a single sentence in multiple using punctuations:

Sita is a book written by Amish Tripathi.

(Is) Sita is a book written by Amish Tripathi?

The first sentence is a statement about the author, and the second is an inquiry about the book.

Types of Punctuation for Class 3 with Examples:-

CBSE Class 3 students study the following punctuations:

  • Capital Letter: The name of a person or place, and the first letter of a sentence begins with a capital letter. In the above example, Sita is a name and the first letter of the sentence.
  • Full Stop: A sentence ends with a ‘.’ or full stop at the end. It also denotes the beginning of a new sentence. Moreover, it implies that it is a statement or an ending. 
  • Question Mark: A question mark is implied in a conversation if someone wants to inquire or ask something. In the above example, the question mark or ‘?’ denotes whether the book is written by the author or someone else and displays that the person is unsure of it.
  • Comma: Whenever a writer wants to display item separation or pause in a sentence, a comma or ‘,’ is used. For example, Ram, Sita, Raavan, and Lanka are four prominent novel series of Amish Tripathi.
