Subject and Predicate for Class 3

Subject and Predicate for Class 3

Introduction of Subject and Predicate for Class 3:-

A person, place, or thing that is doing some action or is being talked about in the sentence is referred to as the subject, whereas the latter is referred to as the predicate. A simple example of subject and predicate relationship in a sentence is ‘The captain has boarded the ship.’ In this example, ‘The captain’ is the subject, and the remainder is a predicate or the action performed by the subject.

What is Subject for Class 3:-

The primary part of a sentence that identifies the person, place or thing spoken about is referred to as the subject. It is easy to find it in a sentence by figuring the who or what is being said. For example, ‘It’s raining heavily outside.’ In this sentence, ‘rain’ is the subject, and ‘heavily outside’ is the predicate.

Students can also define the subject as the topic of discussion. For example, ‘Lohri’ could be a subject on which the teacher could ask the students to write an essay. However, the differentiation should remain between the subject of an essay and a sentence. In such an essay, ‘Lohri’ will often become a subject, as it is the topic.

What is Predicate for Class 3:-

Most predicates have a verb or a series of words attached to them. It makes identifying them easier for kids with a grasp of English grammar. Another way of identifying the subject and predicate is by differentiating between the first and second parts of a sentence. The second is commonly referred to as the predicate.

Often students can make a mistake in identifying the predicate by writing a sentence in the passive voice. Therefore, the best approach would be to improve creative writing skills and create active sentences. It will become much easier to find the subject in exams and even after that.
